360-degree Yulan Festival Virtual Tour:
Hong Kong Buddhist Sam Kok Mar Tou Yulan Celebration (2022)

By utilizing 360-degree video technology, Professor Selina Chan documented a Yulan festival that took place during the pandemic in 2022. Using over a hundred recorded video clips, she recreated a virtual tour of the 3-day Yulan festival celebration, which can be accessed through computer or virtual reality devices. This immersive tour allows visitors to wander as passers-by, providing them with an opportunity to experience the festival firsthand. By doing so, they can gain a deeper understanding of the rituals and fully immerse themselves in the rich emotions and communal spirit that are an integral part of the celebration. Old photographs are also found in the virtual tour for visitors to compare the past with the present.
